Burning Man 2010 Act and Performance Schedule- Study Up!

Mkay,

We are running a bit short on time, here is an outline of what we are doing so everyone can look at it and see where they fit in, what the transitions are all about, etc…

I think running the show will be MUCH easier if we all know this stuff so take a sec to study it, make a comment with some suggestions, call me…

This is ROUGH but a start.

love you all!

…and sorry i was such a stinker last practice guess i am really feelin’ the pressure.  :::sigh::::

On Playa Activities for Beyond Fire Tribe

Wednesday – There is a free spin at Hookahdome if anyone wants to make it over there

Thursday - Meet at Fire camp around 10pm (that means come to Fire Camp about 1.5 hours after the sun goes down).  We have a Show at Basecamp at Midnight. I would like to run out show to whatever music they are spinning.

Friday- LAST DAY TO CHECK IN AT CONCLAVE (6pm).

- Meet at Fire Camp at sundown, we will try to coordinate with the Samba Crew to run the show beginning to end  with live music. (it would be nice if we could at least go out to Esplanade to do this.  more space, more audience if we are gonna burn the fuel)

-After that we can cruise out to the playa and make party!

– 6 PM
• MANDATORY MEETING for Shins
This is chance to meet other Shin’s and hear how things will go in the Great Circle, the next night. Each Shin will sit with Tabasco and go over who within your group actually checked in. You as Shin, will receive a copy of the list to take away with you.

SATURDAY (9/4) – Happy Burn Day – what we all have been working for all year long

8 PM
PROCESSION BEGINS
The fire that has been burning all week long within El Diabla will be transferred into the Luminferous and Processed to the Great Circle. Once arriving at the Great Circle, it will pause.

How to check in at Fire Conclave Convergence and Playa Activities

Each member that enters the Great Circle on Saturday night must have a laminate. No Excuses. Here is the process.

It is MANDATORY for each person that is part of the Fire Conclave to check in @ Fire Conclave Convergence. Location is in Center Camp Key Hole, same location as last year. If someone does not check in they will not be allowed a laminate, will not be allowed in the Great Circle AND will be known as an UGLY for next year. Now I understand things do happen, injuries, illness, family emergency, they had to leave BRC early, etc, What ever the reason PLEASE  let me know, so that they will not be marked as an Ugly.

CHECK IN HOURS – Monday (8/30) – Friday (9/3)      10 AM – 6 PM

Each person MUST check in themselves, no one may check in for anyone else. Even you as Shin may NOT sign any one in. They need to get off their dusty playa butts and get to Fire Conclave Convergence. Do it early, do it the first thing when everyone gets there, but just do it.We close the Master Book and do not accept anyone after 6 PM on Friday 9/3. This is just before the Shin mandatory meeting.

By signing in this demonstrated that the person is responsible and has integrity. But the laminate will not be given out at that time. All laminates will be given to the Shin but not until Saturday (check the schedule below). That means you will need to set up a location to hand out laminates to your group.

There are 4 books that are part of the Check In Process

• MASTER CHECK IN
• AMBIENT DRUMMERS LIST
• PHOTOGRAPHERS/VIDEOGRAPHERS LIST
• EXTRA LIST

MASTER CHECK IN BOOK
• This book holds every group that is in this years Fire Conclave, except for the photographers/videographers (V/P).
• Each group will have its own section in the book, that has everyone in your group listed by first name alpha order. This info is from the spreadsheet that you are suppling to me. You as Shin will be at the top of the list. If someone has an AKA, then they will be listed by that name.
• The deadline for any changes to your spreadsheet are 8/1, after that any additions will be placed in the Extra List. Sometimes for what ever reason a name is left off, mis-spelled, etc, If for some reason their name is not in the Master Book when they check in, then it will be printed in the Extra List.

• AMBIENT DRUMMERS LIST – These are drummers that do not go with any one group but will be placed around the Great Circle to add beat to dances. Remember those that need drummers, must communicate with Tabasco (tabasco@burningman.com) and myself. You may not hear right away from Tabasco, He was granted an honorarium this year to create a work of art and he is slammed.

• PHOTOGRAPHERS/VIDEOGRAPHERS (P/V) LIST – A separate book for the Photographer & Videographers.

• EXTRA LIST – This book is for those within a group that for whatever reason are not in the Master Check In Book OR they think they should be part of a group and are not.

••• FIRE CONCLAVE CONVERGENCE •••

• MAIL BOX – The box that contains all the books is also the Mail Box and there is a hanging file for every group where the Shin and members of the group can leave notes and communicate to each other. There is also a hanging file for Tabasco & myself.

••• HELMSMEN •••
• Radio communications in the Great Circle before, during and after the fire performance is crucial. They are equivalent to a stage manager and receive cues when to start and stop the performance.
• Helmsmen must have a critical eye to observe everything that happens with, around and outside of the performers area.
• The radio & headset that Burning Man will be lending the Helmsmen are worth close to $2,000. That is why there will need to be a credit card put up when the Helmsmen check out the equipment. This can be done by the Helmsmen, you or someone in your group. Just someone needs to be prepared.
• Saturday Noon – They MUST show up for radio training, protocal and pick up. And all paperwork will be competed at this time.

••• PLAYA ACTIVITIES •••

CHECK IN HOURS – Monday (8/30) – Friday (9/3)      10 AM – 6 PM

THURSDAY (9/2)
• Ambient Drummers – DEADLINE for Check In, by 5:30 PM for a MANDATORY rehearsal

Fire Conclave Placement

Think of the Great Circle as a clock with 4 points that divide the circle. These are also the 4 promenades that flow to and from the Esplanade.

Once again there are too many groups within the Great Circle and it is going to be beyond tight.  Come and watch us before the man burns!
